July 31, August 1-3 2008

The scores are official and the medal-stand ceremonies are complete - not in China but in St. Paul, MN where our NCRHA Futurity & Derby Show had a strong turn out and plenty to celebrate. We enjoyed participants from around the country and were able to hold our ground on last years entries in decidedly tougher times. Quality and consistency has always been the goal and we are proud to say the NCRHA Futurity is a show people can count on year after year. The planning has already begun for 2009 and we hope everyone had a fun show. Don't forget to look at the payouts riders received; this is were the NCRHA Futurity reveals its quiet, yet stunning greatness. Our payouts rival shows with twice the added money (a tie for 8/9th place in the Open paid a healthy $892.85)!

FUTURITY RESULTS: It was a treat to watch two, NRHA million dollar riders show to the top of their respective divisions! Congratulations to Shawn Flarida, of Springfield, OH riding Whiz's Chic A Dee for Arcese Quarter Horses winning the NCRHA Open Futurity title worth $5158.67. Mandy McCutcheon, of Aubrey, TX took home $3628.94 for her ride on Dolled Up Gunner, owned by McQuay Stables. They always have quality horses, demonstrating quality manuvers.

We also congratulate Intermediate Open Futurity Champion, Bobby Avila and Limited Open Champion, John Zimmerman on their winning rides. Both these young men work out of Vaughn Zimmerman's facility in Missouri along side Interm. Open Res. Champion, Corey Hendrickson. We had some local champions too. The Intermediate Non Pro title went to Dale Dickey of Pine City, MN, while Ann Bray of Blaine, MN didn't just earn her first futurity check - she topped Limited Non Pro! Charlie Wiederholt placed two of his three head in the Non Pro event as reserve champion and 4th place finisher in addition to being 1st and 2nd in the Prime Time.

Jeff Kasten was the Open and Intermediate Open champion aboard, Paddy's Irish Cody owned by Raul Munoz and Sally Broten won the Non Pro with her gelding, Dreamy Little Sailor. Steve Harris was the Intermediate Champ with Chad Johnson picking up a first time limited non pro derby win on Whiz Van Winkle.
